Walt Disney World 3D Glasses Cleaning Process

It's Tough to be a Bug, 3D Show, Disney World, Meet the MagicDisney offers many guest experiences throughout their parks that involve the use of 3D glasses.  The experiences include Muppet Vision 3D at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Captain EO at EPCOT.  The shows are thrilling and fun to guests who often find the 3D effects so vivid, they can be seen attempting to duck or catch an object being displayed on the screen.  To add to the fun, many of the 3D glasses are given names specific to an attraction: It’s Tough to be a Bug at Disney’s Animal Kingdom names the glasses “Bug-Eyes”, while the Philharmagic glasses are adorned the name “Opera Glasses”.

With so many of these glasses being passed around from guest to guest, have you ever considered if they are cleaned?  Well, one of the roles of Cast Members working in the Imagination pavilion in EPCOT is to pick up and clean the 3D glasses!  First, they are responsible for picking up the glasses from the various location.  Then the glasses are taken to a wash station where each set of glasses are cleaned at a wash station at 160 degrees.  This helps to ensure that they are sanitized for the next guest who will use the glasses in a 3D experience!  Next, the Cast Member takes the dried and neatly arranged glasses to the various 3D attraction locations.

Isn’t it nice to know that those glasses are cleaned on a regular basis?
