Name of Attraction:
Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover
July 1, 1975
The Tomorrowland Transit Authority is located in Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom park. Originally opened as a prototype in Disneyland as the PeopleMover, the attraction made its way to the Magic Kingdom as the WEDWay PeopleMover. The attraction underwent a large refurbishment in 1994 when Tomorrowland transitioned from a showcase presentation of all future technologies to an area which presented a futuresque city. Along with the refurbishment, the attraction was renamed to the Tomorrowland Transit Authority or TTA and was given a new narration which presented guests with information about Tomorrowland. However, in 2010, the attraction was renamed again to add back in “Peoplemover” to the attraction name.
The attraction itself begins with a speedramp ride to the loading area. Once to the top, the load area of the attraction uses speedramps for loading and unloading. This allows continual motion of the attraction. The ride vehicles include 2 bench seats which face one another. The attraction will hold up to 6 guests per ride vehicle, with one seat riding forward, while the other rides backwards. The attraction winds above all of Tomorrowland. Guests appreciate taking photos as they loop this way and that through Space Mountain by Cinderella Castle and through Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin.
Opinion or personal story about the Attraction:
This attraction is always a must do to most Disney goers. The attraction rarely has more than a 5 minute wait because of its ability to load and unload so quickly. The ride aboard makes for a great way to relax and cool off which seeing many of the attractions around the Magic Kingdom.
