I know many of you have been to the Barber shop located there on Main Street! I had given my son several hair cuts until he was 2 years old. He was very uninterested in getting his hair cut and instead found interest in anything other than being still. I had read about parents taking their children to the Barber shop but had never really even paid attention to this corner of Main Street! Once I actually got to Main Street with a child who had never had a professional cut, I could not resist.
So walked in the Magic Kingdom and went straight to wait in line along with all of the other parents also with the same thought in mind. Our wait, impatiently, was about 20 minutes. As time ticked away, I could feel the lines growing longer throughout the park… But I digress. My son hopped in the chair and I began snapping photos as though he was a runway model. I completely forgot about the fact that the lines were definitely getting long and focused on my son’s first cut. As time progress and he got bored, he began to look around the room. I was so grateful that Disney was prepared for this problem and has distraction toys for the children.
Once the cut was complete, I was so excited for my son to receive his first set of ears! He was so proud of them!
We had such a great time here that we could not help but return. We returned once more before my son decided he must be adorned with pixie dust. And really, I am not so sure that he knew exactly what this mean. Here is a photo of my son in pixie dust:
He absolutely would not pose without the number 1 above his head. Anyways, you can see the pixie dust all the same. This “dust” was not his friend, some would say. He HATED it! He wanted it out nearly immediately. He was adding hidden mickeys of his own sort all over the park (as the pixie dust are those metallic Mickey Mouse shapes). Once in the room, he asked for us to wash it out right after this photo. I washed his hair 5 (yes, five!) times to get out all of the paint and particles! He was so very tired of it once we were done. Pixie dust, huh, pixie tar! Ok, that is the wrong attitude, but I was the washer those 5 times from a very non-cooperative child!
All in all, haircuts at the Barber shop are great, pixie dust, not so much!
