Should You Purchase the Disney’s Photopass?

When visiting Disney, an important thing to consider is capturing the memories you are creating while visiting the parks.  Even if you visit the parks frequently, the parks change and a review of photos can often be the best way to relive a memory of an attraction, restaurant or resort long forgotten.  For many, taking a camera to the parks is an essential.  Some carry entire backpacks with a variety of lenses, filters, film and extra digital cards so they can capture all of the memories to the best of their abilities.

Get Professional Shots for FREE – For those of you who do want to take your camera to the theme park but want a photo taken by the Disney photographers, most will kindly take your photo using your camera.  Some of the photographers take the time to adjust the setting so you can get the best shot, while others are not quite as helpful.  Here is one of the shots made by the Disney photographs.  This photographer took many shots to get the lighting just right.

Those Who Need a Pass – If you are someone who either does not want to carry a camera to the theme parks, then you need to consider the purchase of a Disney’s Photopass.  The Disney’s Photopass is very simple to use and allows you the freedom to get your photos taken all over the parks without carrying around anything other than your Disney’s Photopass card.

The Card – Even better, should you forget to bring along your Disney’s Photopass card, you can get a new one and combine all of the photos taken onto one Photopass later.  However, should you permanently lose your Photopass, there is no guarantee that Disney will be able to locate your photos.  To help prevent the loss of your card permanently, take a photo with your phone of the back of your Disney’s Photopass card or write down the numbers located there on the back.  This will help Disney relocated the photos for you.

Getting the Photos – Once at home, you have 30 days to review your photos online on the Photopass website.  You can create an order there and purchase any of the photos you want in a variety of sizes.  You can also add graphics and borders to the photos to your liking.

Pre-Order to Save Money – If you believe you are interested in using the Disney’s Photopass, you should consider pre-ordering the Photopass CD.  The cost is $Cost is $119.95 (or $169.95 if purchased after your vacation) and allows you to receive all of the photos in .jpg taken by the Photopass photographers, the ability to customize all of the photos, as well as a limited license.

If you do not Pre-Order – Should you feel that the price is too high, you can order only the prints you are most interested in from the Photopass website.  The prices for the individual prints are as follows: Two 4″ x 6″ $14.95, 5″ x 7″ $14.95, 5″ x 7″ + 4 wallets $19.95, 8″ x 10″ $16.95, and 16″ x 20″ $24.95.  There are also a variety of gifts that be purchased using the Photopass photos as well.

Be sure to think about the total number of prints you believe you will purchase to help you decide if pre-ordering the Photopass is right for you.

I am soooo glad we I prebought the photopass CD! No more missing mom shots! I take my camera with me, but love being able to get into the photos, too. Don’t forget the Magic Shots. My kids LOVED walking up to all the photopass photographers asking if they have a magic shot. Totally worth every penny. 🙂
