Metal Detectors Added to Disney World Theme Park Entrances

As you might have heard, Disney security caught a 36 year old male who was attempting to bring a gun into the theme parks.  The man had a 10 year old expired concealed carry license.  To help keep the public safe while visiting Disney, they have installed metal detectors at the entrance of the theme parks starting today, December 17, 2016.  With the increase in crowd levels due to the opening of Star Wars and the ending of the Osbourne Spectacle of Dancing Lights guests should expect long delays in getting in the theme parks.

In addition, Disney will discontinue the sale of toy guns such as the Buzz Lightyear themed toy guns and the wooden ones sold outside of Pirates of the Caribbean.

Disney has released this statement:

“We continually review our comprehensive approach to security and are implementing additional security measures, as appropriate.”

Be sure to plan accordingly when getting to the parks for a timed event that you have enough time to get through security and arrive on time!
