Maelstrom Hidden Mickeys

During my last vacation to Disney World, my sister, son, Kristen H. and I had a great time comparing Hidden Mickey findings.  While in EPCOT we decided to visit Maelstrom which is located in the Norway pavilion.  My son has not liked this ride in the past because of the drop at the end of the ride.  However, now that he has decided that Pirates of the Caribbean is his favorite ride, he was ready to conquer Maelstrom.

While standing in line at Maelstom, my sister and Kristen pointed out a few Hidden Mickeys.  The three that I will point out are found in the mural that lines the wall behind the load area for Maelstrom:

1.  Here is a Hidden Mickey in the wrist watch:

2.  Here is a Hidden Mickey in the red buoys (I personally think that this one is a bit questionable):

3.  And my personal favorite, the Mickey ears!

Since comments have mentioned this pocket, I have updated the post to include her.  I just do not see the Hidden Mickey.  Do you?

Do not forget the one on the chest pocket of the TOUR GUIDE in the Norway nural. It is difficult to find, but with the right light and angle, it is a GREAT hidden mickey.

I agree, the 2nd one mentioned is questionable.

AND, I never knew about the mickey watch, that is great.

It is very hard to see…it is a “combo” of the pocket and the top of the clipboard. ONE of the best and hardest I have found in the parks—with the help of STEVE BARRETT’s book of course.

Good on the mickey ears on the viking in the boat! The rest, naaaaaa… There is one on the pocket of the white shirt of the large lady in the painting, though it is atypical, being more a profile.

there’s also one INSIDE the ride that i discovered the other day ONLY because our ride got stuck and we had to sit in the dark for awhile. we hadn’t gotten very far…it was right in front of the scene of ships on the water under a night sky, with a [robot] Viking blowing a horn. on the right side of your boat, underneath the painted ship scene, on the “shore”, there’s a big circle of rope with two smaller rope circles on top to make the ears. totally a hidden mickey (that’s really pretty darn obvious if you’re looking closely), and i havent seen it recorded anywhere 🙂

There is one and only one intentionally hidden Mickey in this mural and I put it there! In the viking ship, upper left , I painted a Mickey Mouse cap, embroidered with the name “Leif”. I knew this would be accepted as a fun gag, because I had previously painted a hidden Mickey in the “World of Health” mural that was OK’d by John Hench himself, while he was standing right next to me during the buy-off process. After these hidden Mickeys were discovered and it became fun to find them, the fad began wherein new features sneak the Mickey icon in, but I’m afraid most of the ones folk find now are just the results of overactive imaginations! (in the folds of clothes . . . c’mon!!)

PS I am the giant Viking!
