Free Christmas Things to Do while in Disney World

Many people enjoy going to Disney World during the Christmas holiday season.  The decorations can be seen in the parks from November 8, 2015 – January 3, 2016. Many enjoy spending time in the Magic Kingdom visiting during the Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party that takes place on the following nights this year:

  • November 8, 10, 12, 13, 15, 17, 19, 20, 29.
  • December 1, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, 13, 15, 17, 18
  • Grab you tickets from Best of Orlando for the best price!
  • Find out all of the details of the party from Disney’s website.

If you are looking for things to do while in Disney World for free or at no extra charge over your theme park ticket that will leave you in the holiday spirit, here are a few of the things you can do:

  • Visit the Magic Kingdom and stroll through Main Street.  The street is heavily decorated with holiday items.  You will find all of the stores are decorated inside and out.  Even the street cars are decorated!  Inside the stores, you will find many holiday gift ideas or items to bring home Disney holiday decorations!  Even if you do not buy anything, it is fun to simply see what all is available!

  • After walking through Main Street, be sure to spend some time ogling Cinderella Castle!  In year’s past, the Castle has been decorated with icicles making the Castle glow.  The underlying lights change colors to make the crowd even more excited at its beauty!

  • Several of the Magic Kingdom attractions decorate within the attraction.  In fact, here is a photo of Trader Joe who is all decked out in holiday attire.  Look, he even bought you presents in anticipation of your arrival!

  • Over in the Grand Floridian, you will marvel at the sight of hundreds of pounds of gingerbread stacked just right to make a really great looking gingerbread house.  Long before you get to the house, you can smell the sweet aroma!  It is really fantastic to see!

  • In addition to the Magic Kingdom decorations, you will find that all of the theme parks are decorated for the holidays.  Most of the stores have holiday items for sale, some specific to the park.  EPCOT’s countries are decorated heavily.  Inside their stores, you will find a variety of holiday items specific to their country of origin.
  • All of the Disney resorts are decorated for the holidays.  Disney invites people to visit their resorts so feel free to check out the various resorts!  Many of the resorts use decorations specifically themed for their resort.
  • In Downtown Disney and the Magic Kingdom, you can visit Santa!  Be sure to investigate the times that he will be available as he is not always around… sometimes he is out helping the elves prepare for the big day!

Disney World is a magical place year round but during the holiday months, there is extra magic in the air!  If you have other free things you enjoy doing for the holidays, please add those here in the comments!
