Does the Wizarding World of Harry Potter Gringott’s Dragon breathe fire on a schedule?

If you have been to Universal Studios Island of Adventures, you may have noticed the extremely large dragon atop the Gringott’s Bank.  As you enter this section of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, you might notice that there is a huge crowd of people simply standing around facing towards that dragon.  At first, you may not quite understand what exactly is going on or supposed to be going on.  It is quite the scene with everyone just standing, looking up at the dragon with their camera’s at the ready.

So, what is the deal?  The dragon there atop Gingott’s Bank breathes fire.  The event lasts maybe one second.  To get a photo of the breathing of fire, you need to be ready.  However, if you do not want to spend quite a while with your arms in the air, you can instead plan for taking the photo because the Dragon breathe is done on a schedule!

The Dragon will blow it’s breath every 10 (or 15 on lower crowd flow days) minutes!  So, look at your watch.  When it is close to 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 minutes past the hour or on the hour, get ready to take your photo of the Dragon breathing it’s fire!  You can also hear a rumbling noise right before the Dragon’s breathe.

This is a secret though, not something that one of the Universal cast members will tell you!
