Disney’s Pop Century Resort

Resort:

Disney’s Pop Century Resort

Description:

Currently Disney has four value resorts, All-Star Movies, All-Star Music, All-Star Sports and Pop Century (a 5th resort is currently being built). Value resorts are economical yet still have the Disney touch. These are great resorts for those who are on a budget, have small children or spend most of their day in the parks.

1960's Building

1960’s Building

The Pop Century is all about the 20th century’s pop culture with iconic memorabilia like jukeboxes, bowling pins, 8-track tapes, Rubix Cubes, and computers. This resort will take on a trip down memory lane. In the main building, Classic Hall, you’ll find many pieces of memorabilia to take you back to when you were once a kid whether it be in the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s or even the 90’s.

The resort is more basic than the moderates or deluxe resorts. You’ll find 3 pools, an arcade, children’s playground, pool bar and food court – Everything Pop Food Court. There are no table service restaurants here or any of the value resorts. It’s a large resort with 2880 guest rooms! Each room has an alarm clock (because you don’t want to be late getting to the park), in-room safe, iron & board, table & chairs, cable TV, and phone with voicemail. Soon mini-refrigerators are to be available free of charge, currently there is a small fee. There are two categories of rooms – standard and preferred rooms.

Classic Hall is pretty much the center piece of the resort. Not only is this where you check-in but it also houses the arcade, gift shop and Everything Pop Food Court. You can also catch the Disney bus transportation from out front as well. If you are looking for a room closest to Classic Hall but do not want to pay for a preferred room, the 60’s building, you should request the 50’s or 70’s. Requests are not guaranteed but Disney does try it’s best to accommodate any special request that guests may have. The building farthest from the main building… is the 90’s.

Yearly Trivia

Yearly Trivia

If you enjoy a leisurely stroll or a morning there is a nice path along Hourglass Lake. While taking your morning run or evening stroll you can entertain yourself by reading the trivia from each year posted along the pathway.

One nice surprise at Pop Century is that you can see IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth from some of the buildings, especially if you are on the 4th floor. Both Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios are nearby. The farthest location from the resort is the Magic Kingdom.

Additional Information

  • All rooms have either 2 full size beds or a king. Kings are very limited and can’t be guaranteed.

  • Check-in is 4:00 pm. Check-out is 11:00 am.

Opinion

I think that Pop Century is a great resort for those with small children due to the smaller sized rooms and beds. It’s also great for those who see a room as a place to shower and sleep, like myself. The resort is comfortable, clean and most certainly affordable, perfect for those on a budget!

The food court has many options to choose from with four different stations and you can pick up wine and beer to take back to your room if you don’t feel like sitting at the Petal Pool Bar behind Classic Hall.

Of the four value resorts this one is my favorite. I would definitely recommend it to anyone look to stay at one of Disney’s value resorts. You get comfort, affordability and all of the perks of staying at a Walt Disney World resort.
