In my opinion, Chef Mickey’s for dinner is the ultimate Disney dining experience. This is one of the hardest places to secure a dining reservation on all of Walt Disney Resort property. If you are planning a trip, make sure you book this one 180 days in advance if you want to secure a reservation, also known as an Advanced Dining Reservation (ADR). You can book reservations online at Disney Dining Reservations or by calling (407) WDW-DINE (939-3463). The food is served buffet style so there is always something for everyone. For dinner you will usually find roast beef, baked chicken, pasta, pizza, mashed potatoes, vegetables, maccaroni and cheese, chicken fingers and a salad bar. The dessert bar is to die for!
The single best part of this dining experience is the fact that the Fab Five (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto and Goofy) are all there to see you.
Each of the characters will stop by your table to give you a hug, pose for a photograph and sign your autograph book. Don’t worry, you do not have to be a child to get photos and autographs with the characters. I always get my photo taken with Mickey Mouse while dining here! Donald Duck will always interact with you to make sure you know that he is better than Mickey. The characters will also invite everyone in the restaurant to join them in singing and dancing to the napkin song. I do not want to give away too much for those who haven’t experienced this yet, just know it is a lot of fun for all ages. The entertainment is well worth the price of dinner.
My family and I always use the Disney’s Dining Plan when we vacation so we never have to come out of pocket while we are there, other than the tip. Chef Mickey’s is always the first dining experience of our vacations so we consider it well worth the price. If you are on the Dining Plan this experience will take 1 Table Service. There is no better way to be welcomed to Disney World than by the characters that we love and adore so much! If you are unable to secure a dinner reservation try to get one for their character breakfast buffet. Chef Mickey’s is located in the Contemporary Resort so you are just a quick monorail ride to the Magic Kingdom and/or Epcot. My family tradition is to eat here around 7:30 and finish just in time to take the monorail to the TTS and hop on the Ferry back to the Magic Kingdom. If we time it just right we are able to watch Wishes on the Ferry and make it back to the bus depot before the crowds depart the Magic Kingdom. It is a perfect end to a perfect evening!
