Silhouette Studio in Disney World and Disneyland – Worth It?

Image Detail

Taking a child to Disney for the first time is a very exciting time for the entire family. There is only one first visit to a Disney theme park.  One way to bring home some great souvenir and memory is to have your child’s silhouette done.

When visiting Disneyland for the first time with my son, my mother mentioned that it would be neat to have his silhouette done.

I reluctantly went to the studio on Main Street in Disneyland and found that there was no line.  A look at the prices and I was surprised that the souvenir would not cost an arm and a leg!

Still, I thought, surely this process will take at least 30 minutes.  Instead, what I found was that the lady that cut out the silhouette had magic hands which could quickly transform paper into a side view of my son’s face within a matter of seconds!  The process of watching the Cast Member wave the small scissors around this way and that was worth the cost of the silhouette!

Back at the Magic Kingdom in Disney World, you can also find the magical Cast Members creating silhouettes for people but in a cart located right off of Main Street.

Now that I have my son’s silhouette hanging at home, I love it!  It not only reminds me of the fun of getting it done on Main Street in Disneyland during my son’s first Disneyland vacation, but also reminds me of the one my grandmother had of my sister and I in her home!

I had my kids silhouettes done when they were 3 and 5 and then again when they were 13 and 15. I have them in a double frame and I just love them! I am so glad we did them!

Thanks for confirming this is still around. I did it with my father in Magic Kingdom when I was a child. My dad passed away in 2010 and I have it sitting on my home office desk. I look at it almost daily and it is one of my most prized possessions. Silly, isn’t it? Well, now I’m looking forward to visiting the same Silhouette Studio 34 years later with my son. Can’t wait!!
