Food Experiences at Disney Not to Be Missed

Many a foodie is enthusiastic about a vacation to Disney!  Not only does Disney offer hundreds of restaurants, but also a variety of food carts, beverage stations, and character dining experiences.  But how do you know which of these to partake in when on vacation?  So, Meet the Magic has spent hours researching, eating, trying, and thinking through the very best of the best and here is our list:

Top Snack - The tip-top of this list has got to be the Mickey Bar.  This is a Mickey Mouse shaped ice cream bar, coated in chocolate and perched on a wooden stick.  In the summer months, guests see many a party purchase and struggle to eat one of these Mickey Bars before the summer sun sentences the Bar to the concrete… It is quite entertaining to watch others eat this ice cream treat with such vigor, wanting to be able to experience it all!  These ice cream bars are quite similar to Klondike bars, but are much more fun to eat!  Find this snack at most ice cream carts throughout the theme parks.  They also can be found in many quick service restaurants in the Disney Resorts.

Best Character Breakfast - Character breakfasts are in high demand when vacationing at Disney.  The number one place to meet the characters early in the morning is Chef Mickey’s at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.  Here you can meet Mickey, Minnie, Pluto and Goofy while eating an all-you-care-to-eat breakfast.  Here you will find the very tasty Mickey shaped waffles, a kids’ food bar with food items specifically geared to their pallet, and custom-made omelets!  Be sure to have your camera and other items ready for signature.  Also know that if you miss seeing a character while in the restroom or up at the bar, they will not revisit your table for another (near) hour!

Best Disney Dinner Show - Disney offers three different dinner shows,  Hoop-Dee-Do Musical Revue, Mickey’s Backyard BBQ, and Spirit of Aloha.  These are all heavily themed with the Hoop being themed around slapstick humor and songs and dancing with the Pioneer Hall Players, the BBQ being a country-western dance party with Mickey, Minnie and Friends  Mickey, Minnie and Friends, and the Spirit of Aloha is a luau to include Lilo and Stitch in a variety show using the sounds of Polynesia.

More of Meet the Magic’s Food Experiences to come!  Please leave suggestions on areas to cover in the comments.

I think you need to double check the characters at Chef Mickey. We have eaten there several times over the past few years and Chip & Dale are not there. Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, and Donald are there – the Fab Five. Chip & Dale are increasingly hard to find.

Arg! TOTALLY disagree on best character breakfast! I found Chef Mickey’s jammed like a cattle car! Yes, great interaction, but hardly a place to relax and enjoy!
Crystal Palace is my primo #1 place! Great atmosphere and food, and though it is the 100 Acres Woods rather than Mickey and the Fab Five, I would choose it 10 times out of 10! And 11 out of 10 if you take into account a pre-park opening reservation time!
    Oh! Also, for ANY meal!

Here, here! Another vote for Crystal Palace. The atmosphere is so much warmer at the 1000 acre woods
