Welcome to those of you joining me from Cooking with Mickey and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 4th stop on our Magical Blogorail. Today, our blogorail is discussing an attraction that others enjoy to which we HATE!
After a good conversation with Kristen from Cooking with Mickey, I figured out what I would be discussing for today’s post. What is funny is that I am a bit ashamed that I hate this attraction. I typically think of myself as someone that enjoys the more adventurous attractions. When only 4 years old, I rode my first “upside down” roller coaster in our neighborhood theme park, Opryland. Having only had my ears pierced a few days, I found the ride to hurt because I did not know to keep my head still. I left the ride with red ears, but decided that I enjoyed the fun just the same!
I found my hate for this attraction not on the actual attraction, but instead on a similar attraction at Kentucky Kingdom. This park too has since closed, so I cannot find the exact name for the attraction. However, it was a spinning free-fall type attraction. I remember getting to the top of the attraction and falling after several EXTREMELY long minutes at the top. As we fell, I remember screaming several words to which smaller children should not be exposed to.
It was after that ride that I decided that I should no longer ride the Tower of Terror. I simply could not make myself fall and fall and fall straight down as I attempt to keep my tongue. So now when visiting with my sisters to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we first ride the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster while my mom keeps my son. After riding, I meet with my mom and take my son to Playhouse Disney while my sisters (with their big girl panties on) ride the Tower of Terror. You heard it right. I sit and watch puppets while they ride a thrill ride. I hang my head in shame. And that is what I hate, the Tower of Terror.
Thank you for joining me today. Your next stop on the Magical Blogorail Loop is Pursuing the Magic.

I’m not ashamed to admit I dont like scary stuff. Movies, rides, doesn’t matter, I don’t like them. So I’ll go on this once in a blue moon, but usually I’ll sit and people watch while the wife enjoys her ride:)
I like the thrill rides too, but I have no desire to go on Tower of Terror. It hits a little too close to the “I really am going to die” mark for me!
I would not be ashamed of that at all! I love the ride but I still get VERY nervous every time that elevator moves into the shaft. So I can totally understand.
I am with Tricia. I have never ridden Tower of Terror for fear that I will be thinking I am on a “fun” ride, but actually plunging to my death in an elevator!
ToT is one of my all-time favorite rides. My daughter and I ride it and laugh the ENTIRE time! Sorry you don’t like it, but that’s one less person in front of me in line. LOL
ToT is fun but it’s one of those rides that I have to be in the mood for. Not in the morning and not on a full stomach, lol. I rode it on my 59th birthday screaming and laughing all the way down!
I love ToT and really want to take my husband on it since he hasn’t yet. But I know a lot of people who don’t like it. I can see why free falling wouldn’t appeal to everyone. I freak out easily with scary movies or haunted houses, but for some reason I love thrill rides.
I only did ToT once – while our husbands watched our babies, my best friend held my hand while I screamed my head off. And I don’t plan to ride it again until she’s there to hold my hand again. BTW – I miss Opryland.
This is not my favorite and I have skipped it over the last several year, I have ridden it 2 times and feel That is more than enough. I hate the feeling of falling and my legs were shaking when I got off, that I could barely walk. My husband and daughter could ride it all day they love it so much And think it is the least scariest ride at Disney. They are crazy, lol…
I am not afraid to admit that I don’t like the Tower of Terror either. I’ve always loved roller coasters but I hate the feeling of falling, especially over and over.
